Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. Malignant nonmelanoma skin cancers originate from keratinized epithelial cells. These cancers include basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Melanoma only accounts for about 2% of malignant skin cancer but causes most deaths.
