Platelet-derived growth factor is a low molecular weight cytokinin that exists in platelet α particles. Platelet-derived growth factor can stimulate fibroblasts, glial cells, smooth muscle cells and other cells stuck in G0/G1 phase to enter the cycle of division and proliferation.
