Background

(+)-Pilocarpine-d3 is intended for use as an internal standard for the quantification of (+)-pilocarpine by GC- or LC-MS. (+)-Pilocarpine is an agonist of M1 and M2 muscarinic acetylcholine receptors with KB values of 11.22 and 199.53 μM, respectively.1 Systemic administration of (+)-pilocarpine is typically used as an animal model for temporal lobe epilepsy and can mimic the generation of complex partial seizures by producing changes in hippocampal neuron morphology, membrane properties, and synaptic responses.2
