EtS-DMAB (HClO-green) is a fluorescent probe, which can selectively detect hypochlorous acid (HOCl) (Λex=440 nm, Λem=610 nm). EtS-DMAB is applied to image exogenous and endogenous HOCl in live cells[1].
EtS-DMAB can selectively detect hypochlorous acid (HOCl) over other reactive oxygen species in aqueous solution with a large stokes shift (~170?nm). It turns out that oxidation of the thioether to the corresponding sulfoxide accounts for the turn-on fluorescence[1].
