Background

Indanomycin is an antibiotic of the pyrroloketoindane class, which includes an unusual indane ring structure. It has bactericidal activity against Gram-positive bacteria, with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of <=0.2 ug/ml, and insecticidal activity.
