6-methoxy-2-Naphthoic acid (6-MNA) is an active metabolite of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) nabumetone .1,2 It inhibits COX-1 and LPS-induced COX-2 activities in isolated human whole blood (IC50s = 31.01 and 19.84 ?M, respectively).2 6-MNA is also a potential impurity in commercial preparations of naproxen.3
